Our Favourite Met Gala Beauty Looks

It was the beauty looks seen on the red carpet that stole the show for #TeamAmanqi.

The first Monday of May brings us one of fashion’s most important annual events; the Met Gala. Although, as usual, this year’s fundraiser gave us major style inspiration, it was the beauty looks seen on the red carpet that stole the show for #TeamAmanqi. Since we’re constantly struggling with experimenting in terms of our makeup and venturing out from our usual choices, the Met Gala was exactly what we needed to push us out of our beauty comfort zones. Scroll through our favourite looks from the Met to find out how you can replicate the most conspicuous element from each one.

Besides her striking and free flowing tresses which gave us major hair goals, we adored Zendaya’s bold, orange hued lipstick. Not only is this lipstick by Sisley the perfect shade, but it simultaneously hydrates the lips. Opt for this Dior Addict Lipstick if you want a glossier finish.

TAYLOR HILL

Definitely a makeup look we want to recreate at the next event we attend, Taylor Hill’s burgundy smokey eye complemented her Carolina Herrera gown perfectly. For an identical look, first apply ‘Sketch’ by MAC on the eyelid, then blend in the Urban Decay eyeshadow in ‘Relish’. Another unmissable element of Taylor’s look was her glowing, radiant complexion. The NARS ‘Banc de Sable’ Highlighter Palette is the right choice to enhance your cheekbones and illuminate the skin.

SELENA GOMEZ

Everything about Selena’s Met Gala appearance, from her dress to her hair (we are obsessed with that sleek bob cut), was subtle and dreamy. However, the one element of her look which was the most impressive was her neon pink eye makeup. Imitate Selena’s look using the Marc Jacobs Highliner in ‘Popular‘ (the exact product she used) or the Bobbi Brown Eye Gloss in ‘Island Pink’ for a glossy, liquid formula in a candy floss hue.

LILY COLLINS

One of the edgier beauty looks on the red carpet, Lily Collins’ opted for an oxblood lip and defined, spider lashes. The YSL ‘Shock Volumising’ and Urban Decay ‘Perversion’ mascaras are ideal to achieve similar, never ending eyelashes, while Huda Beauty’s ‘Vixen’ and MAC’s ‘The Scene’ are the perfect burgundy shades.

RIHANNA

Rihanna definitely made heads turn with her unconventional makeup look, applying the same luminous shade of pink on her eyelids and cheekbones. The NARS blush in Angelika will give you a bright pink glow as radiant as Rihanna, while the Tom Ford Cheek Duo is a more subdued alternative.

CANDICE SWANEPOEL

We were obsessed with Candice Swanepoel’s all black look, but what we loved the most was her dramatic, winged eye liner. For eye makeup as bold as Candice, try out the Benefit Push-Up Liner (its flat tip makes it so easy to use) or the Laura Mercier Longwear Crème Pencil.
